Hi John,

Last week, I emailed you about McDonald's, KFC, and Burger King who're staying silent on the fires still raging through the Amazon.

Today, Raoni Metukire, chief of the Indigenous Brazilian KayapĆ³ people, is in the UK with a simple message to all of us.

"We all breathe this one air, we all drink the same water. We live on this one planet. We need to protect the Earth. If we don't, the big winds will come and destroy the forest. Then you will feel the fear that we feel." [1]

Show solidarity with the Indigenous people of Brazil. Call on the world's biggest fast food companies to stand up to Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, before he causes more irreversible destruction.

We're calling on McDonald's, KFC, and Burger King because they all source huge amounts of meat and soya from Brazil. They have the power to take a stand against the President of Brazil, who is torching the Amazon for profit.

Thanks for all that you do.

Hi John,

The Amazon is on fire and the President of Brazil is fanning the flames.

Bolsonaro wants to turn the Amazon from the lungs of the planet into the world's largest cattle ranch, soya farm and leather goods emporium.

Governments have so far failed to stand up to Bolsonaro. But the world's biggest brands could immediately bring his destructive agenda to a halt by refusing to source Brazilian beef, soya and leather while the Amazon is under attack.

Let's start with fast food. McDonald's, KFC and Burger King source huge amounts of meat and soya from Brazil. They can't stand by while the Amazon goes up in flames. They must stop sourcing from Brazil until Bolsonaro agrees to protect the Amazon and its people.

Can you quickly sign the petition calling on KFC, McDonald's and Burger King to act now?

So many of the products on our high street - from leather shoes to chicken nuggets and burgers - can be traced back to forest destruction in Brazil. And Bolsonaro wants to make matters even worse.

He wants to exploit the Amazon further by clearing it for land that can be used to sell cattle, soya and leather for profit. His policies are dangerous and will lead to even more fires in the region.

But we have the power to stop him in his tracks. Three companies that can make a difference are KFC, McDonalds and Burger King. If they distance themselves from Bolsonaro's destructive agenda, more companies and industries could follow.

Some of the worlds biggest brands have already taken a stand. Like Timberland, Vans and The North Face, but we need more companies to breakaway from Bolsonaro's Amazon destruction.

Can you ramp up the pressure on KFC, McDonald's and Burger King?

It's easy to feel helpless when seeing the news of the Amazon fires, but big companies have the power - and responsibility - to put out the fires for good. As customers of these brands, we have power, too.

Bolsonaro's confidence comes from the knowledge that companies will keep buying Brazilian goods despite his forest destruction. But we can pull the rug from under him by getting them to take a stand against forest destruction - and stop buying soya and meat from Brazil until the Amazon and its people are protected.

This is a fight we can't afford to lose, help be a part of the reason we win.

PS: We're already calling on the UK government to suspend trade talks with Brazil until the Amazon is protected, and we'll continue to make that case. Let's make sure companies don't stay silent.
