First, Donald Trump fired the people protecting our elections. Now he is warning Americans that our elections are “not secure.”
But it’s his administration that gutted the federal agency that helps states defend voting systems from foreign attacks, pushed out hundreds of cybersecurity workers, and left election officials without the intelligence briefings and federal experts they relied on in 2024. And to top it all off, Trump has threatened to withhold election security resources unless states hand over sensitive voter data to his administration.
He’s weakening our defenses, then using primetime speeches to spread doubt about the results before a single vote has been cast.
Make no mistake, Trump is scared that Democrats will win in November, so he’s creating the excuse he needs to call the election illegitimate and fight to overturn the result.
