This month, Kamala Harris officially joined the race as Joe Biden's running mate, we witnessed history at our entirely-virtual convention, and our party threw its united support behind the Biden-Harris ticket. Now, we're just one day away from the first FEC deadline since Joe Biden officially accepted the nomination -- and we urgently need to translate this surge of momentum into funds and resources to help Democrats win.
While it's been an incredible month for Democrats, it'd be irresponsible to ignore the fact that we were outraised by Donald Trump and the RNC last month. Take a look:
We can't afford to let that happen again at this crucial, late stage in the race -- especially after all the tremendous work this team has done to close the gap on Trump's three-year fundraising lead. Based on our projections for this month, we'll be able to reach our goal and stay on track to win if at least 68 more people from Washington make a contribution. While grassroots donations will certainly be important through the rest of this election, I want to make one thing crystal clear, John: Whatever you can afford to donate ahead of tomorrow's deadline will actually make an even larger impact on the race than that same amount would two months from now.
Your support ahead of tomorrow’s end-of-month deadline will allow Democrats to compete in more battleground states, mobilize more organizers, and scale up the infrastructure we need to win big in November -- and it'll help make all of this happen while there's still enough time to make a difference. This deadline is among the last we'll face before voters return their ballots and begin voting early, so right now is one of our final opportunities to raise money while there's still enough time to get out the vote in our most competitive battlegrounds.
Reaching this goal will be no small feat. It’s going to take everything we have to beat Donald Trump, win key races, and hand a decisive victory to Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Democrats across this country.
