Michael Emmanuel Swinton Dear Members and Friends, We mourn and share the pain and suffering of the loss of three American soldiers killed in action by Iranian missiles and drones on July 17, 18, and 19, 2026: 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, of Fayetteville, North Carolina These U.S. Army soldiers assigned to U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) were killed in action defending U.S. forces deployed at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan and Erbil Air Base in Iraq. America’s strength is in its diversity from sons and daughters who serve in uniform in our military are a special breed who heed the call of duty and put their lives on the line so to protect our freedom, values, and way of life. Lt. Feehan, Pvt. Gonzales, and Sgt. Swinton are of the missile defense community, the missile defense team around the world, and the SMDC that the rest of the U.S. military and the American people rely upon to protect us from the rapidly growing missile and drone threat we as a nation and world face. These soldiers heeded the call when their country needed them with valor, honor, and a duty to their country. They now rest with seven U.S. soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice earlier this year among hundreds of casualties. We extend our deepest condolences, empathy to their families, friends, and loved ones, as well as the units and teams who lost one of their own. Their lives will forever drive relentless commitment to advancing and deploying missile defense. The greatest thing that our civilian leaders can do to is to prevent more lives being lost. It is our civilian leaders moving with far greater urgency to make the changes necessary in how we organize, prepare, and command our military forces and to far more rapidly acquire and deploy defense capabilities to save lives.
