Trump and his Republican allies are pushing the SAVE Act—a dangerous bill that could make it significantly harder for millions of eligible Americans to register to vote and participate in our democracy.

The SAVE Act would require many Americans to present documents like a passport or birth certificate when registering to vote or updating their voter registration.

Millions of eligible voters don't have those documents readily available. Married women who have changed their names, military families, students, seniors, rural voters, and working Americans could all face unnecessary hurdles just to cast a ballot.

Let's be clear: federal law already prohibits non-citizens from voting in federal elections. Cases of non-citizen voting are extraordinarily rare.

The SAVE Act isn't about election security. It's about making it harder for eligible Americans to vote.

Americans have spent generations fighting to expand democracy—not roll it back. We should be protecting the freedom to vote, not creating new barriers that keep citizens away from the ballot box.
