Today is Black Women's Equal Pay Day, John.
That means it takes until July 21st,
nearly seven months into the year, for Black women to make equal pay for equal work.
The math is stark: Black women working full-time, year-round make just 65 cents for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men.
And instead of working to close that gap, the Trump administration has attacked the federal agencies that guard against discriminatory pay.
As the first African American to represent the Pacific Northwest in Congress, and Secretary of the Congressional Black Caucus, this fight is personal to me.
