One morning, two opportunities to testify for climate justice.

Hi John,

This Thursday morning, there are two critical opportunities to turn out for climate justice in Portland. The good news is that you can do both!

Advocate for the Climate Justice Plan

First, Multnomah County Commissioners will vote on whether to adopt the Climate Justice Plan. This is a transformative policy shaped from the start by frontline and historically underserved communities. It centers the lived experience of those who are living with the worst impacts of climate change, and what these residents really need.

That’s why we must make sure County Commissioners vote to adopt this plan when it comes to a vote on Thursday. Here’s how you can help:
* 🗓️ When: Thursday, July 23 at 9:30 a.m.
* 📍 Where: Multnomah County Boardroom, 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland
* 🗣️ Public Testimony: Sign up to testify in person or virtually HERE ([link removed]) (pre-registration is required).
* ✍️ Written Testimony: Email your written comment to the following email addresses: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) , [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) , [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) , [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) , [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) , [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) , [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])
* 📄 Testimony Guide: Use this guide ([link removed]) to help shape your testimony. Share why this plan matters to you, your family, or your neighborhood.
* 📺 Livestream: You can watch a livestream of the meeting HERE ([link removed]) .
* WEAR RED!!!

In case you missed it, over the past year we’ve connected ([link removed]) with community leaders from across Multnomah County who participated on the steering committee for the plan’s drafting. Hear what they have to say in their own words about what’s at stake:

Demand transparency re: sale of Zenith Energy

Then, Portland City Council’s “Committee of the Whole” will consider a sneaky proposal from Zenith Energy to transfer its franchise agreement with the City to another company. Zenith is trying to quietly sell its dangerous fossil fuel facility to I Squared Capital, a $60 billion international private equity firm with no ties to Portland. Given the City’s history of catering to Zenith ([link removed]) at the expense of our health and safety, we need real transparency and community input before this deal moves forward.

Here’s how you can demand that Portland City Council conduct a thorough public review of the franchise agreement before it’s approved:
* 🗓️ When: Thursday, July 23 at ~10:45 a.m.
* 📍 Where: City Hall, 1221 SW 4th Ave #110, Portland
* 🗣️ Public Testimony: Sign up to testify in person or virtually HERE ([link removed]) (pre-registration is required).
* ✍️ Written Testimony: Submit written testimony HERE ([link removed]) .
* 📄 Talking Points: Use these talking points ([link removed]) to help shape your testimony.
* KEEP WEARING RED!!!

take action now ([link removed])

Remember, you can do both! The County hearing wraps up around 10:30. All you need to do is hop across the river and you can make it to the 10:45 a.m. Zenith agenda item at City Hall. You can even keep your red clothes on.

Thank you for showing up for climate justice!

In solidarity,

The Breach team
