We gathered in our nation's capital, in our home states, and virtually to continue fighting for justice for lives that have been lost at the hands of racism and gun violence. We were especially moved by Yolanda King’s speech, an activist just like her grandfather, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Yolanda joined us in 2018 on stage at the March For Our Lives where she proclaimed, “we WILL be a great generation.” It’s time to live up to that.
Help us continue our fight for justice and a world free of gun violence by doing these three things today.
- Tell Congress to demilitarize the police. Fill out this form to email your representatives, demanding they take action to demilitarize the police and protect Black communities.
- Tell your Senators that they must pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act of 2020. We must restore the Voting Rights Act of 1965 so that it can protect all people whose vote is threatened by racist and discriminatory laws.
- Take the Our Power pledge and vote! You’ve heard us say it before, but have you registered? Have you checked? Could you call up a friend and get them to register? We heard it over and over yesterday at the March on Washington -- we all have to show up and vote -- don’t give an inch of your power away.
If you marched with us in 2018, you should be taking action now to fight for justice. This movement is nothing without the powerful Black organizers that came before us. We follow their lead and work towards a day where everyone can live in peace, free from the fear of violence. What side of history will you be on? Fifty-seven years from today, what will you say you did?
The future of our democracy depends on how you answer. Our lives depend on it. Our future will be decided by it.
