John,
Have you heard of Netflix’s new movie Cuties? Cuties is a French movie about an 11-year-old girl who rebels against her traditional Muslim parents by joining a twerking dance crew for children. Yes, you read that right. Netflix bought the exclusive rights to release a movie in which the plot revolves around an 11-year-old who twerks and does other sexually provocative dances. Regardless of the filmmakers’ intent, this movie sexualizes children. Real child actresses are being told to dance in a sexually provocative way for this film to be made. If Netflix releases the movie as planned on September 9th, anyone with a Netflix subscription will be able to access Cuties on demand. Netflix has over 150 million subscribers. Is it even a question whether this movie will be viewed by pedophiles, or by innocent children who will think there’s nothing wrong with re-enacting these kinds of dances? CitizenGO has joined in with other advocacy groups in calling on Netflix to cancel the release of Cuties on their website. It is important we all stand up to massive media corporations who will do anything to make a profit, even if it means widely broadcasting inappropriate sexual content involving children. Please help us to get Netflix’s CEO Reed Hastings to remove Cuties. Tell them that you will not tolerate them profiting off of the sexualization of children. After the first wave of protests, Netflix apologized for the picture and wording used for the promotional campaign of the movie. This shows that Netflix is afraid to lose subscribers and doesn't want to be in the spotlight.
Let's double down our pressure and tell Netflix that it's not enough. Can you help to get this petition to over 100,000 signatures? Sign our petition to make sure that this gross movie doesn’t end up in the hands of hundreds of millions of people on September 9th.
We need to stand up to the increasing degeneracy that the film industry is trying to normalize and profit from. You may think it doesn’t get worse than Cuties, but if we don’t speak up against Netflix now, who knows what obscenities they’ll promote next.
Thank you, Gregory Mertz and the entire CitizenGO Team P.S. If you have already signed, please share the petition with your friends. Here's the email we sent you earlier on this:
Netflix has already made a name for itself for releasing movies degrading to Jesus Christ (The First Temptation of Christ) and glorifying sexual violence (365 days). With Cuties, Netflix goes further into obscenity: by sexualizing 11-year-old children. According to the official description (since changed by Netflix after the initial backlash) on the site, Cuties tells the story of “Amy, 11 years old, becomes fascinated by a twerk team. To try to join them, she begins to explore her femininity and challenges her family traditions.” The movie is announced to be released on September 9th! Join this URGENT campaign to demand the CEO of Netflix to remove this highly offensive production from their catalog. SIGN THE PETITION |

Dear John,
Netflix doesn't stop and they're going deeper and deeper into the obscene! Netflix has already made a name for itself for releasing movies that degrade Jesus Christ (The First Temptation of Christ) and glorify sexual violence (365 Days). In Cuties, Netflix goes further into the obscene by hyper-sexualizing 11-year-old children. According to the official description (since changed by Netflix after it received backlash) on the site, the film tells the story of “Amy, 11 years old, becomes fascinated by a twerk team. To try to join them, she begins to explore her femininity and challenges her family traditions.” Have you heard of twerking? Twerking is an ultra-sexualized Afro-American dance that consists of moving one's buttocks, often with very light, or even practically non-existent, clothing. Netflix is associating this practice with 11-year-old girls! Netflix announced that Cuties is to be released on September 9th! Your help is urgently requested!

This French movie, originally released in France on August 19, is just beginning to create a scandal on North American social networks, mainly because of the inappropriate advertisements Netflix has made to promote Cuties release in September. In the various interviews she has given since the film's release, director Maïmouna Doucouré mixes up a whole bunch of reasons that pushed her to make Cuties. From the denunciation of hyper-sexualization to the opposition to patriarchy, all these reasons are mixed and give the impression of total confusion in the movie's objective. In any case, the result is there: a film in which 11-year-old girls are hyper-sexualized. The dissemination of Cuties on Netflix also contributes to the normalization of the sexualization of children in our media. With the reach Netflix has, there is a social responsibility to ensure that the films they distribute do not contain themes that are grossly detrimental to the well-being of society and the development of young adolescents.
By signing this petition, you will warn Netflix to stop neglecting this responsibility! Demand they stop the sexualization of children on their platform!
Can you imagine the disastrous impact Cuties can have on young girls, who may be encouraged to do the same thing because they will have seen it on Netflix? There is also a good chance that this movie will attract many pedophiles, who will now not even need to consult illegal content. We've suspected for years that many media corporations are attempting to normalize the sexualization of children. Netflix is here providing us with one more confirmation: Netflix is no less than openly promoting the sexualization of children. After the first wave of protests, Netflix apologized for the picture and wording used for the promotional campaign of the movie. It shows Netflix is afraid to lose subscribers and doesn't want to be in the spotlight.
Let's double down on our pressure and tell Netflix that it's not enough. Sign this time-sensitive petition to tell Netflix CEO Reed Hastings to stop their plans to put Cuties on Netflix and stop sexualizing children. Thank you, Gregory Mertz and the entire CitizenGO Team --
