Team, today we’re going to ask you to make a contribution to the DNC to support our work — but first, we’re going to answer a question that we hear a lot: “What does the DNC actually do?”

It’s a fair question! The answer is that we do a lot, but most of it is not what you would expect. For starters, here’s what we don’t do:

- We don’t recruit candidates to run for office. That work is best left up to our sister committees, the DSCC and DCCC.
- We don’t take sides in Democratic primaries. Voters pick the Democratic nominee in each race, then we fight like hell to elect them.
- We don’t dictate messaging for ads. Campaign strategies are best left up to each Democratic candidate; they know best which messages will persuade voters in their districts.
- We don’t control or direct Democrats in Congress. We coordinate with these Democrats when it comes to campaigning, but the folks in office do the governing.
So what do we do?

Our number one priority is building and maintaining infrastructure to elect Democrats running for office, whether they’re running for school board or for President of the United States. And that might sound unsexy, but it’s critically important.

Here’s what that work looks like:

- We fight to protect free and fair elections. Both in court and on the ground, our legal and voter protection teams fight every day to make sure that every eligible voter can register, vote, and have their ballot counted. We fight against unlawful barriers, voter intimidation, and voter roll purges, and to strengthen long-term voting access through legislative advocacy.
- We provide critical technology and data infrastructure to 10,000 Democratic campaigns. Our tech team processes the national voter file, shares it with the state parties, and equips every Democrat in America with the tech to target and reach voters.
- We build Democratic power in the states. We invest over $1 million every month in our state parties and have launched programs like When We Count to reach and register new Democratic voters, particularly young folks who are the future of our democracy.
- We are the administrative backbone of the presidential nominating process. From setting the order of state primary elections and caucuses to planning the Democratic convention in presidential years, the DNC is already hard at work planning for 2028.

Your support helps fuel all of this work. Over 99.7% of the DNC’s donations come from grassroots supporters just like you.

That's why we have to ask: Will you chip in to the DNC today? We know it might not feel like enough to power all of this critical work, but when thousands of grassroots donors give what they can, we can accomplish incredible things.
