This week, when reporters asked Donald Trump how long the new strikes on Iran would last, he gave an answer that should stop you cold.

The war continues, he said, "until I say."

Until he says.

One man. No vote, no plan, no one in Washington with the standing to tell him no. We are now a week into round two of a war he restarted by blowing up his own ceasefire — American forces hitting Iran night after night, Iran firing back at our bases in Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan, oil prices spiking again, and experts now openly warning this is becoming a "forever war."

I flew F/A-18s off a carrier for 21 years. I have sat on the catapult waiting for the order. So hear me when I tell you: "until I say" is not a strategy. It's a man treating the United States military like personal property — and treating your safety, your gas prices, and other people's children as things he gets to spend.
