Dear John xxxxxx,

Yesterday, Andy Burnham began his leadership by acknowledging something politicians too often avoid.

He said that our politics hasn't been working for far too many people.

Because the truth is that, for too long, Westminster has not been working.

Andy also asked us to imagine what things could be like if we changed the way politics works.

Imagine a country where politics works for you and the place where you live.

Power taken out of the centre and put into the hands of the people and places that can use it best.

That is the country we want to build.

But Andy was clear about something else too: this is Labour's mission, and it is a mission for all of us. We need a stronger, more united Labour Party, drawing on the breadth of views, talents and expertise across our movement.

It will grow when people across Britain decide to step forward and become part of it.

That is why I am asking you to join the Labour Party today.
