Water Taxi and bus shuttles: a perfect Strawberry Festival combination
It’s a celebration of fun, music—and strawberries! The King County Water Taxi invites everyone to make it a “Strawberry Day” by riding the Water Taxi to the Vashon Island Strawberry Festival July 17-19.
The Water Taxi will make its trips between Pier 50 in downtown Seattle to the Vashon Ferry Terminal throughout the three days of the festival on its regular Friday and weekend schedule.
Regular Metro bus service can connect strawberry fans to the festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday via Metro routes 118 and 119.
For this year’s celebration, Metro also will be running special bus shuttles on Saturday and Sunday that will meet the Water Taxi from Seattle to take you to the festival. There will be signs at the Vashon Ferry Terminal directing riders going to the festival to the nearby shuttle stop.

RapidRide I Line construction update (July 2026)
King County Metro has begun construction to build 17 miles of new RapidRide service in Renton, Kent, and Auburn. Once I Line is in service in 2027 it will provide connections to the Renton Transit Center, Kent Transit Center and Auburn Station. The I Line will also connect riders to the RapidRide F Line, Sound Transit buses; Sounder Train; and local bus service, making it easier for people to travel to and from regional destinations and access a network of local bus routes. Metro is building RapidRide I Line to meet a critical need for improved north-south transportation options in south King County. Visit our new website to check out our interactive map and learn about the passenger stations and other improvements this project will bring!

Recognizing Metro’s Operators of the Month (March-April 2026)
They cook and also love Volkswagens. They travel and enjoy weightlifting. They golf, snowboard, play soccer and enjoy walks. Their riders say they are: “super cheerful and considerate,” “exceptionally courteous, especially to elderly passengers,” and an “incredibly kind and friendly driver who makes the commute better.”
They’re operators with close to a combined 250 years of transit driving experience who enjoy meeting with their riders and giving back to their communities.
