Hi John, it’s Mark.

I just introduced a bill that affects anyone who consumes social media or believes in transparent elections.

I’m introducing the PAID Act, or the Promoting Authenticity with Influencer Disclaimer Act, to combat undisclosed paid promotional content on behalf of political campaigns.

Here’s why.

Social media has become one of the primary ways Americans—especially young voters—get their news, but our campaign transparency laws haven't kept up.

Campaigns are exploiting this loophole and paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to influencers to promote them, without disclosure.

Since December, the National Republican Senatorial Committee and National Republican Congressional Committee have disclosed around
$136,000 in payments funding MAGA influencers to covertly do their bidding.
