Dear John:
Pat Lynch, the president of the Police Benevolent Association, which represents NYPD officers, told the RNC this week: “We can have four more years of President Trump, or you can have no safety, no justice, and no peace.”
If you think that sounds like a threat to New Yorkers: we think so too.
Brad has long understood that police unions are a major obstacle to police accountability. That’s why he signed Color of Change’s pledge to reject any future donations from police unions. (Brad has been pushing for police reform his entire political career, so it’s also true that they haven’t offered any in the past!)
If that’s the kind of bold, progressive, unbought leadership you want for NYC, please chip in $10 or any amount before our end-of-month deadline, so we can hit our $6,000 monthly goal, stay competitive and elect Brad to citywide office →

Brad was one of the few NYC Councilmembers who voted NO on the city budget because it failed to meet this historic moment to defund militarized policing and invest in our communities.
What Brad understands is that you can’t just march with protestors and consider your work done. You can’t just make speeches. You have to live your values, vote your values, and run campaigns that align with your values.
Earlier this summer, student activist Aaron Fernando made a spreadsheet showing how much campaign money every NY politician has taken from police unions and associated groups -- compared with their votes for police funding and accountability.
The spreadsheet went viral. Many New York politicos, including opponents in our race for Comptroller, tried to distance themselves by making statements and charitable contributions. But Brad wasn't on the list -- he's been a longtime opponent of police abuse, from ending "stop and frisk" to reimagining public safety.
This is a people-powered campaign -- not a dime from police unions, corporate PACs, or for-profit developers. But we’re counting on grassroots supporters like you, John. Can you chip in toward our $6,000 end-of-month goal today? [[link removed]]
Aaron started another spreadsheet just this week when it was reported that the NYPD is lobbying to weaken NYC's new anti-chokehold law. Brad was one of the first councilmembers to make clear he’ll vote NO on any attempts to roll back reform.
Will you stick with him? [[link removed]]
