Wentworth Cell Tower
*Wentworth Park Cell Tower Update*

The Planning Commission will hold another public hearing on the cell tower proposal from Buell Consulting/The Towers LLC. The hearing is set for the commission's regular meeting Tuesday, July 28, at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers, City Hall, 1101 Victoria Curve.

Full application materials are available upon request. The staff report will be posted online Friday, July 24, ahead of the meeting.

Three Mendota Heights City Council positions will appear on the ballot in the November General Election: one Mayor seat (two-year term), and two City Council seats (four-year terms).

The filing period began July 14 and will end at 5 p.m. on July 28. File an Affidavit of Candidacy and the filing fee of $5 with the filing officer at City Hall, 1101 Victoria Curve, during the two-week filing period. 

Requirements to be a candidate:


* Must be eligible to vote in Minnesota
* Must be 21 years of age or older upon assuming office
* Must live in Mendota Heights for at least 30 days before the General Election
* Must not have filed for another office at the upcoming Primary or General Election

Smart Automation
Public Accuracy Test of Voting Equipment

Before every election, local election officials test all equipment to be used in that election. For the preliminary testing, ballots are marked with assistive voting devices, a set of pre-marked ballots is fed into the ballot tabulators, and the machine's totals are compared with the pre-determined results. Some equipment is also further tested at a Public Accuracy Test shortly before the election. Public Accuracy Tests allow anyone to watch local election officials test election equipment before the election.

A Public Accuracy Test of the voting equipment to be utilized for the August 11, 2026 Primary Election will be conducted on *Monday, July 20, 2026 at 1:30 p.m.* The testing will occur at the Mendota Heights City Hall. The test will be observed by at least two election judges not of the same political party. All interested individuals are invited to attend.

Step 4 Award
City of Mendota Heights Recognized for Sustainability Efforts

The City of Mendota Heights recently received an award for being a Step 4 city in the Minnesota GreenStep program. Mendota Heights is one of 156 participating cities and Tribal nations in the challenge, assistance, and recognition program. Step 4 involves measuring and reporting a series of metrics such as energy efficiency in municipal buildings and fleet, water usage, community forests and access to green space. These metrics reflect city staff’s work to implement sustainability best practices, one of the City Council’s strategic priorities. Municipal Campus Building Project [ [link removed] ]
Municipal Campus Building Project 

Mendota Heights is planning for a new City Hall and Police Station building. Project details and design will be developed throughout 2026, with anticipated construction beginning in 2027. The new facility is scheduled to open in fall of 2028.

In response to community feedback to reduce the scope and cost of the project, at the June 16th City Council Work Session, the City Council gave direction to revise the project scope to meet current needs with options for future expansion. Staff are currently reviewing project designs to adjust to the revised scope.
