The Trump administration has made one thing clear: they cannot be trusted to hold ICE agents accountable.
We were told ICE would go after criminals and the “worst of the worst” — but as we have all seen, that’s a lie. Instead, American citizens, including right here in my own district, have been needlessly detained and taken across state lines.
We were told that body cameras would be acquired and deployed — another lie. After immigration officers shot and killed two people in the past two weeks, the Department of Homeland Security admitted that none of the officers involved were wearing a body cam, or even issued one in the first place.
And, just this week, we were told that ICE agents would pause traffic stops — but Trump reversed course within 24 hours, overruling his own Homeland Security Department in a chaotic Truth Social post.
Enough is enough. Americans demand accountability and transparency. We deserve immigration policies that make us safer, not dangerous tactics that are literally killing people in the streets.
If ICE agents are murdering American citizens and committing crimes — and if Trump’s government refuses to hold them accountable — federal and state law enforcement must step up to seek accountability.

We’ve seen clearly that militarizing ICE with little accountability leads to horrific, and sometimes deadly, situations. We must rein in this rogue agency and demand justice for every victim of ICE brutality.
