We all share a lot of personal data now – and we can get a lot back in return. But you deserve to know that your data is being protected.

That's why I'm proud to share that House Bills 380 and 381 ([link removed]) have passed the General Assembly.
Together, these new laws will strengthen Delaware's data privacy protections by expanding safeguards for sensitive personal information, requiring greater transparency around data breaches, standing up to Big Tech by holding companies to a higher standard when they handle your data, and prohibiting the use of algorithms to unfairly deny Delawareans opportunities in areas like housing, employment, and education.

As technology and artificial intelligence continue to evolve, our laws need to keep pace. When these new protections are in place, they will help ensure Delawareans can participate in an increasingly digital world with confidence, knowing our personal information is better protected.

I'm grateful to my colleagues in the General Assembly and our partners at the Delaware Department of Justice for helping make these important protections one step closer to a reality.
