Just over a month ago, Donald Trump announced he would issue a new executive order on drug pricing within one month.1,2,3 Since then, nothing has happened. No executive order has been released.
It’s not Donald Trump’s first broken promise on drug pricing. When he first ran for president in 2016, Trump said he would act to lower drug prices. Instead, Trump appointed a former top executive at Pharma giant Eli Lilly to be his Secretary of Health and Human Services – and did nothing.4
