Dear John
Net zero is nothing more than national self-harm. Australian net zero policies aren’t making any difference to global emissions, which went up again in 2025 to a total of 41 billion tonnes.
It might surprise many people to know the first large-scale renewable energy target in Australia was mandated by the Howard Coalition Government all the way back in 2001. Since then, household electricity bills have risen more than 200%; in some states, it’s closer to 300%.
In the past 25 years about 4500 wind turbines – some of them approaching 300m in height – have been erected in Australia.
However, this is nothing compared to what’s coming. When you look at all the renewable projects in the pipeline, it’s evident that Australia will eventually have more than 30,000 of these monstrosities. They will be subsidised by taxpayers to the tune of $1.4 trillion. That’s a conservative figure, because the costs of the turbines themselves continues to go up (the costs have doubled in less than five years).
You won’t see them in big cities. You’ll never see a wind turbine on the shores of Sydney Harbour, or on the banks of the Yarra, Brisbane and Swan rivers, or in the Adelaide parklands. They’ll be put up in regional areas. They’ll be put up off regional coastlines. Already, good farmland and pristine rainforests are being destroyed along with a lot of wildlife. Labor and the Greens consider themselves environmental champions but they turn a blind eye to its destruction in the name of net zero.
And none of it will make any difference to the world’s climate. The only outcome will be unaffordable energy and an impoverished Australia unable to feed itself.
