As you read this, historic wildfires are raging in California. Texas and Louisiana have been devastated by Hurricane Laura, which experts have called "unsurvivable."
Just like with COVID-19 — Trump's failure to believe in science is having lethal consequences for people all over the country.
We need to end this, but that won't happen without your help.
That's why a group of donors have pledged to triple-match every contribution — up to $70,000 — to ramp up outreach to environmental swing voters and elect leaders who will heed science. But the match deadline is Monday, and we're short.
This. Deadline. Matters. Right now we don't have the resources to scale up voter outreach in Maine, where we have a real shot at defeating Susan Collins. Same with races in Colorado and Iowa — these are races that will decide control of the Senate. We may have to sit them out.
Tuesday morning, our campaigns team is meeting to assess our financials. Right now, we're still short — but if everyone reading this pitched in — even just $5 — we'd blow through that goal.
Please, donate to LCV Victory Fund today — even $5 helps. Your contribution will be tripled »
Tackling the climate crisis, just like tackling COVID-19, requires leaders that listen to experts and believe in science.
Trump is failing that test. So are his enablers in the Senate.
Remove them, and we're in a position to advance federal policies that put people most impacted by pollution and climate change — especially communities of color, Indigenous communities, and low-wealth communities — at the center of solutions, and leave a livable planet for future generations.
Friend — the environmental movement is the key to pulling this off. All our research is showing environmental swing voters — and whether they turn out — will decide races in places like Florida, Maine, Colorado, Arizona, Michigan, and Montana.
It's going to come down to mail ballots and the truth is vote-by-mail campaigning takes resources we don't have right now. There are serious challenges for voters to overcome — lack of pre-paid postage, requirements that ballots be received rather than postmarked by Election Day, and signature match rejections.
Right now, this is the plan:
- Engage 2 million voters, including traditional climate voters, young people, and communities of color. Make at least 2 million personal contacts with voters either via in-person canvasses (if possible), or more likely, via "virtual " canvassing with calls and texts.
- Send 1.7 million pieces of follow-up mail to voters who have yet to return their ballots, using tested and refined messaging techniques to maximize response.
- Generate more than 33 million impressions via extensive digital programming to help mobilize voters and push turnout through Election Day.
As it stands, we're coming up short. Here's how things look:

Bottom line:
The absolute best thing you can do right now to help swing this election is make an emergency gift. Even $5 can make a difference »
Thank you for everything you do — we can do this.
