John, Donald Trump became famous for two words: “You’re fired!” Now it’s time for him to say those words once more, this time to his new postmaster Louis DeJoy. DeJoy is a major Trump donor from North Carolina who has embarrassed our state. He has ended overtime for postal workers, slowed down mail delivery, and uprooted thousands of mail boxes and pulled the plug on high-speed mail sorting machines all over the country. Trump and DeJoy are purposefully threatening our democracy and our very lives, and you can put a stop to it right now, John! Tell Trump to send DeJoy back to Greensboro where he belongs » This is all part of a plot to undermine our election in a year when millions of North Carolinians will need the mail to run on time so they can ensure the safe and secure delivery of their absentee ballots. If our votes don’t count, we can’t exercise our constitutional right to choose the leaders who will protect our right to clean air, clean water, and clean energy! But more than that, DeJoy’s scheme is literally putting lives at risk. Millions depend on timely mail delivery for their medicine, bills, and paychecks. Rural communities, seniors, people with disabilities, veterans, and small businesses rely on a strong, functioning postal service, which is one of the most basic, fundamental founding components of our federal government. DeJoy is showing no remorse and no commitment to reversing his disastrous decisions, so it’s time for the president to send him packing.
