Letters to the Editor:
“Blue in Peril”
Virginia Sentinel David Leach writes in a letter recently published in the Rappahannock Record that, “The majority of [law enforcement] are dedicated, upholding their oath to serve and protect all people [and if necessary, lay down their lives]. High-profile events make headlines, yet incidents of this nature, though smaller, happen daily with little notice. It’s their mission. Their reward is vilification by a vocal minority...If the goal is LE of inferior quality and character, keep up the Blue Hate. Or fix the problem: ...respect good LE putting lives on the line every day...”
"Absentee Ballots vs. Universal Vote-by-Mail"
Sentinel Jane Lee Hamman, who has served as a Montana election judge for over 30 years, writes in the Helena Independent Record that absentee ballots requested by registered voters and universal vote-by-mail “are two very different means of voting in an election.” The latter involves “an unsolicited universal ballot that is sent to every person on the voter rolls,” which “creates enormous opportunities for fraud.” Jane reminds readers that, “Voting is one of our most precious responsibilities and every vote should count.”
