This week we found a number of major newspapers misreporting death statistics.

Headlines claimed that the flu is killing many more people than Covid-19. But this was a misreading of the data, and there is no evidence that this is correct.

If they won’t get it right, we will. Reader, can you help make sure that the public get the accuracy they deserve?

Yes, I'll become a Full Fact supporter

Details often take longer to investigate. They’re not always as easy to explain. Nor do they make the most eye-catching headlines.

But we shouldn’t settle for anything less than good information.

Inaccurate reporting about the coronavirus adds to the distrust, confusion and panic felt by many of us. It can lead people to ignore official health advice, and put themselves and their loved ones at risk.

That’s why we need your help today.

Harmful and false information about the coronavirus is widespread, and hundreds of questions are being sent in every week.

Just a few pounds a month means more false and harmful reporting will be scrutinised and challenged.

As independent fact checkers, we depend on you for everything we do. You can help us set the record straight, and demand others to do the same.

With people’s lives at stake - the time to act is now.

If you agree that we all deserve better, can we count on your immediate support?

Yes, you can count on me

We’re grateful for any support you can give right now.

All the very best,

Cassie - Policy Manager
