The past few weeks on the campaign have been exciting, as we build momentum for the election. Today, I wanted to give you a quick recap to make sure you didn't miss any good news or must-know campaign updates.
As Lee Zeldin ignored the public outcry in support of the USPS and voted against emergency funding for the Postal Service, I joined South Country Unites and community members at Bellport’s local post office for Save The Post Office Saturday. Whether it’s medication, a Mother’s Day card, or your absentee ballot, the Post Office is an essential service that we must protect. Here's a photo from the rally:
On the polling and campaign strategy front, here are the latest updates:
-
Cook Political Report just moved NY-01 from a Likely R to Lean R, upgrading our chances of winning.
-
A recent DCCC poll showed we were leading for the first time in this race, ahead of Lee Zeldin by two points, 48-46, AND they have added NY-01 to their list of top targeted Red to Blue races!
-
Our own internal poll came with exciting news, too. The most important takeaway is that if we have the resources to get my extremely popular pro-science message in front of voters, we will see a sweeping victory come November.
-
We've earned several endorsements from the AFL-CIO NY, SEIU 1199, End Citizens United, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Senator Chuck Schumer, New Dems Watch List, Tri-State Maxed out Women, and more. I am thrilled to have these groups and leaders with me.
-
Right now, we're putting the final touches on the script for our first TV ad of the general election and we plan to shoot early next month. I cannot wait to share it with you and voters all across our district.
We're going to continue building on this momentum -- and I'll keep you up to date on all the good news coming out of our hard work.
Thank you for being part of this team. We couldn't do this work without you.
With gratitude,
Nancy
