Dear GGJ Friends and Family, Over 40 years ago in Gary, Indiana, the Black community united to form the National Black Political Convention and move the Black Agenda forward. To honor the legacy of US-based Black liberation activists, the 2020 Black National Convention (BNC) will be
broadcasted live today, August 28th, at 4pm PT / 5pm MT / 6pm CT / 7pm ET. GGJ would like to extend the invitation from the Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) to join this event in celebration of Black Culture, Black Political Power-building, and a public policy agenda that will set forth an affirmative vision for all Black Lives. Watch the Black National Convention here: BlackNovember.org Violence against Black communities in the US and globally are becoming more and more visibilized and Black-led uprisings continue to sweep the nation with calls to defund the police. Yet, white supremacist militias, cops, and government officials are still brutilizing and killing our Black sisters, brothers, and kinfolk without any accountability or concrete institutional change. We know that no matter who occupies the White House in 2021, it will require sustained, grassroots struggle and building our transformative political power. At the convention, voters will
ratify a Black national agenda ahead of the November elections guided by the Vision for Black Lives -- a comprehensive and visionary policy agenda endorsed by Grassroots Global Justice Alliance (GGJ) and It Takes Roots (ITR), along with over 50 Black-led organizations and hundreds of other allied organizations and individuals. #BNC2020 |
