Trump’s speech last night and the totality of the Republican National Convention was a stunning display of propaganda. Once again using the White House as his backdrop, Trump attempted to fear-monger and divide Americans.

He told lies about his record, used coded racist language, and attempted to vilify immigrants and asylum seekers. Trump has spent the last four years fostering hateful rhetoric against anyone who does not fit his vision of the “American way of life,” immigrants, people of color, people with disabilities, and LGTBQ+ people.

The fact is that the future of our nation depends on the outcome of this election. We must do everything we can to restore integrity to the White House and to elect a Congress that can get things done. And we can do that by pitching in wherever we can right now.

In the midst of a pandemic, Trump addressed an audience of 2,000 on the White House lawn. Rarely a mask in sight and sitting close together, the scene exemplified Trump’s alternative reality where COVID-19 is a Democrat hoax.
