John,

On this day in 1968, over 250,000 Americans gathered together at the March on Washington to listen to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. deliver his famous ‘I Have A Dream’ speech.

His call for economic and social justice for African Americans was one of the most important moments in U.S. history — one that echoes to this day.

Our country has yet to fully reckon with our nation’s legacy of systemic racism and white supremacy. Now more than ever, people are demanding change in the fight against police brutality that killed George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Jacob Blake, Michael Brown, and so many others.

Today, thousands of people from all walks of life — including young people from my District — will march at the same spot in Washington D.C. to call for criminal justice reform and racial equality.

Tune in today for the 2020 March on Washington led by Sharpton’s National Action Network, NAACP, the National Urban League, and the Hispanic Federation, among others. You can participate virtually with us as we bring forward a bold national Black agenda.

Our movement is growing stronger every single day. And we will fulfill the promise of Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream to live in a world where we are all truly free.

In solidarity,

Barbara Lee
