everyone’s human rights.

Dear Jack,

I’m sorry to say that Congress approved nearly $70 billion in new funding for
ICE and CBP.

Despite ongoing reports of human rights violations and abuses, lawmakers chose
to hand billions more taxpayer dollars to these cruel agencies responsible for
mass detention, family separation, racial profiling, and enforcement practices
that are terrorizing communities across the country.

More than 60,000 Amnesty International supporters urged Congress to reject
this funding.

We spoke out. We made calls. We visited offices. We demanded something better.

Congress chose not to listen.

For so many immigrant families, this vote brings renewed fear and uncertainty
on top of a mountain of trauma. It signals an expansion of a brutal system that
has already caused immense harm to people seeking safety and to be treated with
dignity.

As Congress pours billions more into detention and enforcement, we must
continue challenging the detention system wherever we can — including at the
Dilley detention center in Texas. We need your help to shut it — and all cruel
detention centers — DOWN. Will you take action today?

TAKE ACTION
<[link removed]>

Dilley is the only family immigration detention center operating in the United
States. And we have a chance to shut. it. down.

Families seeking safety should never be locked behind bars while navigating
the asylum process. Children should never be detained simply because their
families are seeking protection.

Family detention is cruel and unnecessary. And it must end.

Today, I’m asking you to help channel your outrage into action.

Add your name to Amnesty’s letter to lawmakers and demand the closure of the
Dilley detention center — as well as an end to mass detention in the U.S.

Congress may have voted to expand detention, but they have not silenced the
growing movement demanding a future where human rights are respected, families
remain together, and people seeking safety are treated with dignity.

Thank you for continuing to be with us.
