Julie Oliver for Congress

Team,

Money and politics shouldn't mix — but it's an unfortunate reality we're up against in this country.

And last night, nowhere was it more on display than the South Lawn of the White House, where Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump delivered the final two speeches of this week's Republican National Convention — an illegal and unprecedented move for a presidential campaign.

The obscene spectacle at the White House showed us just how out of control corruption in Washington is. We have an administration overrun by corporate lobbyists that most Americans did not vote for, pushing ideas that the majority of us reject, using taxpayer funds to pay for a campaign commercial in a house that belongs to the American public.

Getting money out of politics starts with sending leaders like Julie to Washington, committed to accountability, radical transparency, and not taking a dime of PAC money. Will you chip in $15 or more toward our $250,000 August fundraising goal today?

Ending political corruption is an absolute top priority for Julie. That's why we were thrilled to host a meaningful national conversation on getting big money out of Congress yesterday with Ro Khanna, Zephyr Teachout, and End Citizens United Executive Director Tiffany Muller:

Together, they agreed that money in politics — and the corruption that comes with it — is the biggest challenge facing our democracy. For too long, corporations have called the shots — and it's only gotten worse since the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision, which opened the floodgates for a campaign finance system that allows corporate money to flow unchecked through political campaigns.

But all hope is not lost. We already see what is possible as leaders like Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have waged massive, transformative campaigns for political office through the support of small-dollar donors. And we see it here in TX-25, where our people-powered movement has shifted this race to within the margin of error against one of the most corrupt and corporate-backed members of Congress.

We can flip and win this district, but we will have special interests and big checks coming in against Julie and all of us.

Chip in $5 or whatever you can afford right now toward our $250,000 August fundraising goal to make sure Julie wins, so she can help build an institution worthy of the people it's supposed to serve.

Thanks for all you do for this campaign,

Team Julie
