Gold Futures End Lower After Volatile Session
On Thursday, gold futures ended lower after a turbulent session that saw prices move in either direction by as much as 2%. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell made an announcement that didn’t provide a boost because his news was expected—namely the Fed is making changes to the central bank’s policy framework, a move perceived as one that would provide a more accommodative monetary policy, and bullish for bullion buyers. Because this news was already on investor’s radar, some of those investors resorted to profit taking in the wake of the speech. Fed Chairman Jerome Powell announced a surprisingly different policy that the Federal Reserve will be implementing to target inflation.
