Hi there,
This Wednesday, the Federal Election Commission, which is the federal agency in charge of enforcing federal campaign finance laws, will be publishing every federal-level campaign’s finance report for the second quarter of 2026.
These reports tell a story about the strength of a campaign in fundraising numbers. At Swing Left, we’re watching closely on your behalf to make sure that the Must-Flip campaigns on our target map are on track to have the funding we believe they need to win—and where we may need this community’s support to fill the gaps.
Each quarter, FEC reports are made public so that voters can see how much money candidates raised, who they raised it from, and how much and what they spent their campaign money on.
Two days from now, all of the fundraising information from last quarter for every House and Senate campaign will be public information.
This is the reason why your email inbox and phone fills up at the end of each quarter with candidates requesting donations ahead of their end-of-quarter deadlines—campaigns are aiming to raise as much money as possible before FEC reports are filed.
Because not only will this Wednesday’s reports show how strong some campaigns are, they’ll also show where others are coming up short. And Republican party committees, which entered this election cycle with a significant fundraising advantage over Democrats, will be ready to pounce, directing resources wherever they smell weakness—like a Democratic campaign that has raised less than its Republican opponent.
Later this week, once the numbers are public and we’ve had a chance to comb through them, we’ll be reaching out to let you know which campaigns are most in need of additional fundraising support.
But for right now, we need to make sure every Must-Flip campaign on our map this year has the resources they need to fend off Republican attacks and build winning grassroots campaigns ahead of Election Day.
That’s why today, we’re asking you to donate $25, or whatever you can, to our Balance of Power Fund.
This fund supports the Democratic nominees in the U.S. House, Senate, and gubernatorial races we must win across the country, in addition to supporting Ground Truth, Swing Left’s volunteer-led organizing program that’s rebuilding trust in Democrats and making valuable insights available to Democratic campaigns and party committees.
It’s the highest-impact action you can take right now to make sure Democrats in the races that will decide the balance of power in Washington have the resources they need to win.
Thank you, as always, for everything you do, and make sure to stay tuned for more updates once the reports are published later this week.
