Friend, ICE has shot and killed another person in Maine today, ripping a life away from yet another family and traumatizing yet another community with senseless, fascist violence.

A so-far unnamed 26-year-old was shot six times in his car by ICE agents, despite being in the country with a legal and valid work status.

This is now the 11th person shot and killed by ICE since Trump took office again, and the second person ICE has shot and killed in the last week. Another man — a completely innocent father on his way to work — was similarly shot in his car by ICE agents whose accounts of what happened are now heavily disputed.

Friend, I will say what many in power are afraid to say: These shootings are nothing more than modern day lynchings, legalized by the President of the United States.

When ICE agents got away with murdering Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti in my city just months ago, it sent a clear message from the administration: If you hurt and kill innocent people, we will stand by you. We will not investigate you. You will not be held accountable.

Trump, JD Vance, Stephen Miller, and the whole corrupt fascist crew gave ICE and Border Patrol a practical license to kill. As long as they carry out Trump’s mass deportation agenda, they are above the law.

We should be beyond outraged that we must live in fear of our government. That so many have been killed, hurt, tortured, abused, and had their rights violated.

We need to abolish ICE. We need to block any more funding for DHS in Congress. And we need to hold these federal agents criminally responsible for their violent lawlessness.
