Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) is gearing up to celebrate the 50th birthday of our president and CEO ([link removed]) , and we need your help.
For six years, Reverend Dr. Starsky Wilson has worked on behalf of the largest and most diverse generation in America, guiding CDF as we build community so young people grow up with dignity, hope, and joy.
During Dr. Wilson’s tenure, we have:
* Deepened the more than 30-year legacy of CDF Freedom Schools ([link removed]) ®, annually serving scholars in 26 states and nearly 100 cities
* Revamped our Black Student Leadership Network ([link removed]) (BSLN), equipping students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to organize on their campuses and in their community
* Launched CDF’s first-ever podcast ([link removed]) —led by the Youth Policy Consultants program acquired through the American Youth Policy Forum in 2023
At a time when millions of our nation’s young people face an uncertain future—especially those from historically marginalized communities—that work deserves to be celebrated and matters now more than ever.
For the next few weeks, I’m inviting supporters like you to help us raise $50,000 in honor of Dr. Wilson’s birthday to help us continue the work of advocating and protecting the rights of our nation’s young people through impactful and inspiring programming.
