GOD'S CHILDREN ARE NOT FOR SALE

The earthquakes in Venezuela dominated the news for a matter of days.  

The collapsed buildings, the death toll, the rescue teams pulling survivors from the rubble, the world watched, then largely moved on. 

But for the children left behind, the danger didn't end when the ground stopped shaking.  

In some ways, it was only the beginning. 

Displacement does something traffickers understand better than almost anyone.  

It breaks the systems that normally protect a child — records, schools, familiar faces, parents who never let go of their hand.  

In that broken space, a stranger offering "help," a ride, a promise of safety somewhere else, can be all it takes for a child to disappear. 

We've set an urgent goal to raise $50,000 in the next 30 days to help rescue children, provide safe shelter, and reunite families before more children disappear into trafficking.

I've sat with survivors. I've heard what it costs a family to lose a child this way, and what it takes to bring one home.  

And I've learned that disasters like the one in Venezuela don't create new evil, they simply hand existing evil an opening it has used again and again. 

If this is the first time you're hearing from me, my name is Eduardo Verástegui, and I produced the film Sound of Freedom.  

The film Sound of Freedom was truly a movie that launched a movement. That movement is now. Our mission at the Sound of Freedom Foundation is to stop the sale of God's children.  

We do that through five pillars:

We are working urgently, with trusted partners on the ground, to:

"Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked." (Psalm 82:3-4) 

That command is what guides every decision this Foundation makes. It is not a suggestion.  

It is not poetry.  

It is an instruction, and I take it as one.
