Friends, I shouldn't have to send this email.

I shouldn't have to spend one moment away from writing legislation at my desk or advocating for Michigan's working families on the floor of Congress.

I shouldn't have to ask hard-working folks to pitch in to meet my end of month fundraising deadline to ensure we can fight back against misleading ads and dark money.

But thanks to the national Republicans exploiting the Citizens United decision, that's the way it is. But I'm not going to play by their rules.

I'm not going to call up shady special interests and sell out my constituents.

I'm going to stay true to the ideals of this job -- and stay true to you.

Outside groups have already spent $1 million attacking me this cycle. So, I have to ask -- will you chip in to my campaign to re-elect a people's champion who's in Congress for all the right reasons? We only have 4 days to meet our $10,000 goal for August!
