Folks,
I was outraged to hear that the BFGoodrich plant in Tuscaloosa is preparing to close after more than 80 years. About 1,200 good jobs, most of them union jobs, are at risk. This closure will be a devastating blow for the workers, their families, and the entire Tuscaloosa community.
I wanted to make sure that my campaign for governor does everything we can to support the workers and families affected by this closure. So I went to Tuscaloosa with my friend and Lt. Governor running mate Phil Ensler this week to hear directly from union members and retirees about what this closure means for them.

I want to be clear: this is not the workers’ fault. This is not the union’s fault. It is not union wages which are forcing this plant to close. It is the sky-high tariffs that Tommy Tuberville has sent down from Washington. Our businesses, our factories, and even our farmers are being throttled by politicians who spend all their time in Florida and Washington and couldn’t give a damn how their policies actually affect the working people of this state.
Alabama deserves a governor who will actually fight for the working people of Alabama. I want to let union workers throughout the state know that I stand with you. As governor, I will do all that I can to protect your jobs, protect pensions, stop these plant closures, and support your families.
But if we actually want to win, I need your help. We’re going up against Tuberville’s $9 million war chest. So if you want to support my fight for Alabama workers, I’m humbly asking you to chip into my campaign today. [[link removed]]
