August news from UNHCR

Dear John,

Being a humanitarian isn’t always easy. You see pain, suffering and despair on a daily basis. But, you also see hope, determination and strength.

This month, in honour of World Humanitarian Day, we’re celebrating the awesome people who devote their lives to helping refugees through some of the worst times of their lives – from supporters like you to the aid workers who put your compassion into action, each and every day. This year, we pay tribute to women humanitarians in particular. Read on to hear from some of the incredible women on our team about the sacrifices they’ve had to make and what keeps them going.

We’ll also meet inspiring refugees who are rebuilding their lives, doing their best to give their children a better future and sharing stories of strength and survival.

Parents’ fears for the future

More than half of all Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh are children. Without access to education, their futures look bleak. But we’re helping children by supporting learning facilities like the Sunflower centre.
