The LAPD said they received a call around 5:40 a.m. from someone reporting two people dead inside a home on the 1300 block of Holmby Avenue. Officers located a man and a woman dead inside, suffering from possible gunshot wounds. The incident is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide. It is unknown who called the police. CBS 2 Man found shot to death at Hollywood apartment building, search for suspect underway A man was shot to death at an apartment building in Hollywood overnight, and police are searching for a suspect. Officers responded to reports of a shooting on Lanewood Avenue near Sunset Boulevard around 2 a.m. Friday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Details about the incident were limited, but officers found the victim, only identified as a man in his 30s, dead at the scene. Detectives said they don't know if the victim lived there, but they don't believe the shooting was random. Residents of the complex say they heard four gunshots, but detectives don't believe any of them witnessed the shooting. Others who live in the area were shocked to learn about the shooting, saying it's not something that they're used to. Meanwhile, no suspects have been arrested and a description was not available. ABC 7 Man Fatally Ran Down in Reseda A man was killed when he was run over by a vehicle while lying on a Reseda street, authorities said Friday. The death occurred at 2:48 a.m. Thursday at Lindley Avenue and Vanowen Street, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman. A vehicle was northbound on Lindley when it ran over the man, the spokesman said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the officer said. His name was not released pending notification of kin. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, the spokesman said. MyNewsLA Suspect wanted in Chicago homicide taken into custody after police chase ends in crash in Hollywood A suspect wanted in a Chicago homicide case was arrested in Hollywood after a short police chase that ended in a rollover crash. The pursuit involved Los Angeles Police Department officers following a vehicle through Hollywood before the driver crashed near the intersection of Fountain Avenue and N. Cherokee Avenue. Video from the scene showed the suspect on the ground and in handcuffs after what witnesses described as a brief but dangerous chase. Footage also showed LAPD officers pulling the suspect from an overturned vehicle. Construction worker Avias Alcantara said he was eating lunch in his truck when the pursuit passed by. "Everything happened fast ... it was crazy," he said. According to Alcantara, the suspect's vehicle, followed by numerous police units, crashed into a laundry truck at the intersection before continuing down Cherokee Avenue. "The car hit the small van, and then they started going on the street and then he hit the fence on the house and roll over," Alcantara said. ABC 7 About $200,000 worth of items stolen from rapper's Mar Vista home, LAPD says A group of armed men broke into the Mar Vista home of rapper Jamari Spencer early Friday and took off with $200,000 worth of items, according to Los Angeles Police Department sources. The LAPD tells NBC4 Investigates that Spencer was inside his home recording music at the time when three men armed with an AR pistol and handgun broke in at around 4 a.m. The men took off through a back alley towards Victoria Avenue and fled in an unknown direction. They took clothing, watches and electronics valued at approximately $200,000, the LAPD said. NBC4 has reached out to Spencer's representatives. It was not clear if anyone was injured. Spencer, aka Bleood, released his debut album "pain" in March 2025, featuring tracks with a heavily distorted and auto-tuned sound. NBC 4 Public Safety News 2 killed in multiple-car crash in South LA neighborhood Two people were killed Friday morning in a multiple-vehicle crash in Los Angeles' Hyde Park area. The crash was reported in the 3300 block of West 78th Street in the South LA neighborhood. Two people died at the scene of the three-car crash, authorities said. At least four people were being assessment by paramedics. Details about what led to the collision were not immediately available. NBC 4 DTLA Building Catches Fire Second Time Firefighters put out a blaze Friday in a two-story vacant commercial building downtown that had previously burned. The fire was reported at 5:31 a.m. at 1224 S. Hope St., near Pico Boulevard, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jamie Stewart. It was out at 5:54 a.m. Firefighters went on the offensive and called a second alarm to get additional companies to fight the fire, Stewart said. There were over 70 firefighters at the scene. No injuries were reported and surrounding structures were not damaged, he said. Representatives from the LA Department of Building and Safety were called to assess the building’s integrity and the cause of the fire was not determined, Stewart said. Firefighters were called to the business on the 12100 block of West Branford Street around 4:45 p.m. Sky5 footage showed heavy smoke billowing into the air as the collection of vehicles continued burning. Forty-one firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department surrounded the property and worked to stop the flames from spreading to nearby structures. The blaze was extinguished in just under an hour. “Firefighters found one patient who was medically evaluated but refused transport to a hospital,” LAFD said. The cause of the fire remains unclear and arson investigators were notified. No firefighters were injured during the incident. KTLA 5 Diarrhea-causing cyclosporiasis exceeds 1,000 cases in U.S. What Californians should know Several states, primarily in the Midwest and on the East Coast, have reported thousands of cases of cyclosporiasis, a parasitic disease that can cause an extended bout of debilitating diarrhea. There have been cases of cyclosporiasis infection in California this year, but none has been linked to the current outbreak. Public health officials, however, have advice for residents to stave off illness. Cyclosporiasis is an intestinal illness caused by several species of the microscopic parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis and is spread through the feces from an infected person that has contaminated food or water, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. People become infected with the illness by consuming food or water that has been contaminated with the parasite — the infection is not transmitted from person to person. The epicenter of the current outbreak is in Michigan, which has reported more than 1,000 cases since June, including 44 people who were hospitalized. The state typically reports about 50 cases of cyclosporiasis annually. Now there may be hundreds more infected as 17 states have reported numerous cases.
