Politicians famously lie a lot, John.
Now I love a good practical joke here and there, but I don’t lie. That’s
one of the many reasons I consider myself a public servant, NOT
a politician.
So I want to give you the full, unvarnished truth of how I’m feeling about
chances in the toss-up race for Governor of Iowa.
Hang on before I start yapping: I just got my official opponent, and get
this: he’s a Kansan culture warrior backed by Steve King.
Game on.
Now that we’re up against Zach Lahn and the partisan machine behind him,

help us maximize the post-primary energy here in Iowa? Every bit counts in
a race THIS competitive.

Honestly, the primary results didn’t change my feelings much at all. My
gut and recent polling tell me we have a slight lead, but this governor’s
race will probably come down to no more than 10,000 votes.
I don’t want you to think I’m not confident in our chances. I’m extremely
confident, in fact: experts have this race pinned as a toss-up, we have a
big tent filled with Iowans from literally every walk of life, we have a
provably persuasive message, we’re running several TV ads with great
feedback from voters, the list goes on and on.
Even with all that going right for us, this race is still a dead heat.
My team and I are aware of the potential pitfalls ahead of us. This is a
wide-open race in a midterm (i.e. lower-turnout) year. Lahn has the full
resources of the Republican party machine at his disposal. I don’t take
corporate PAC cash; he does.
I won re-election in 2022 by just a shade under 3,000 votes. I know we’ll
have to work HARDER, raise MORE, and spend SMARTER than Zach Lahn just to
pull off a narrow win.
That's the honest truth.
With that said, we have a lot of work to do to win the race that’ll shape
the next several years (and likely decades) of Iowa’s future. [ [link removed] ]Before

amount to my campaign and Blue Amp Action to help me defeat Zach Lahn and
be the straight-talkin’ governor Iowa deserves?
