California Activists Seeking “Language Justice” Want to Install Broken English
in Preschool Curriculums



Social justice warriors in California are lobbying for preschools to recognize
African American Vernacular English (AAVE), also known as “black English,” as a
legitimate language variety. They say schools embracing “black English” would
fulfill the need for “language justice.”

A quick Google search reveals the following sentences as examples of AAVE:

"He be working late." "She a great teacher." "I done finished my homework." "I
didn't do nothing."

A group called Black Californians United for Early Care Education is leading
this push to teach children to speak terribly. Somehow, this storyain’t no
joke. It’s fo’ real. They seriously want teachers to teach kids to talk that

WARNING: You Might Want to Avoid Taco Bell



Michigan Taco Bell joints are pulling ingredients from their menus amid the
spread of a parasite that can cause explosive watery diarrhea.

The establishments have reportedly posted signs warning customers that they
cannot serve lettuce, cilantro, onion, pico de gallo, or guacamole. The
restrictions come as cyclosporiasis rages through the Great Lakes State. There
are over 1,200 cases statewide, according to the Michigan Department of Health
and Human Services, up from 174 on June 30th. New York, Ohio, and Illinois have
also experienced outbreaks.

Cyclosporiasis is an intestinal illness caused by the Cyclospora parasite.
Humans can catch it by consuming infected food or water. The illness can cause
“watery diarrhea” and “frequent and sometimes explosive bowel movements” that

Strait of Hormuz Traffic Grinds to a Halt



Americans desperate for energy prices to return to a tolerable state received
frustrating news on Thursday when shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz
ground to a halt.

Only one tanker moved through the waterway, according to Bloomberg. Roughly
25% of the entire world’s seaborne oil production typically flows through the
strait, and a daily average of 24 tankers had crossed since the U.S.-Iran
memorandum of understanding took effect. At least four oil and liquefied
natural gas tankers made U-turns out of the passage on Wednesday. The dilemma

a 6% spike in oil prices. America’s currentaverage per-gallon gas price
<[link removed]> is $3.88, up from $3.82 one week ago.

War hawks have rushed to blame Iran for the MoU’s collapse, saying the
Iranians alone did not make a good-faith attempt to comply with its terms. But
the U.S. also played a role. The agreement’s first point called for a ceasefire
in Lebanon, which Washington did not even try to enforce. They let Benjamin
Netanyahu call the shots instead. Why should a tiny country of nine million

Iran Releases Footage of Khamenei’s Destroyed Compound


The Iranian government released footage from inside Ali Khamenei’s bombed-out
compound on Thursday, showing the building completely destroyed and barely
recognizable four months after the U.S. and Israel pelted it with dozens of
missiles.

The video went public as part of Khamenei’s six-day funeral, which has
continued throughout the week. The spectacle has featured millions of Iranians
taking to the streets to mourn and honor their assassinated leader. The footage
shows deep piles of rubble covering the compound’s floor, draped with buckled
ceiling supports and doors blown clean off the hinges. Khamenei once held
meetings and delivered sermons in the now-eviscerated space.

Imagine if a foreign nation did this to the White House. How would such an
attack make Americans feel? There is nothing crazy about thinking Iraniansmight
have a few good reasons to feel upset with the U.S. government.

REPORTS: Israel “Warned” U.S. of Iran’s “New Plots” to “Kill Trump”


Droves of special-interest-funded news outlets published stories on Thursday
about Israel sharing intelligence with the United States about a new alleged
Iranian plot to kill Donald Trump. This unearthing of Iran’s apparent plan
comes six years after the first Trump administration assassinated Qasem
Soleimani. Israel reportedly tipped off the White House earlier this week. The
U.S. has yet to vet the threat, according to CNN.

It is possible the Israelis are telling the truth. Even if they are, this
story still serves as an excellent example of how the corporate media subtly
propagandizes its well-meaning consumers. Publishing headlines like “Israel
Shares Intelligence Warning Iran Plotted New Assassination Attempt Against Trump

” without mentioning that Israel has a massive incentive to lie about their
“intelligence” does not give the public anything close to the story’s full
picture. Instead, as always, it manipulates readers into supporting more war.

Maine Democrats Vote to Hold a Nominating Convention to Replace Graham Platner



Has the Left learned its lesson from the 2024 election?

Maine Democrats have voted to hold a “Nominating Convention” to select a
replacement Senate candidate for Graham Platner. As you have doubtlessly heard,
Platner is exiting the race amid an establishment campaign to destroy his
public image because he opposes permanent Washington’s oligarchical economic
and foreign policy programs.

The details and timeline of the “Nominating Convention” remain unknown, as do
the names of possible candidates. Hopefully, party leaders have the decency to
let the voters make the decision and resist the urge to undemocratically anoint
someone like the DNC did for Kamala Harris.Read more

Government Regulations Are Jacking Up New Housing Prices


Soaring home prices have caused the average age of a U.S. first-time homebuyer
to skyrocket to 40 years old. Government regulations hold some of the blame.

A new report from the National Association of Home Builders shows that
government regulations are adding an average of $131,734 to the cost of newly
built houses. That figure is good for over 26% of the average final share
price, which is $499,500. The estimate marks the largest increase between
consecutive NAHB surveys since the organization began tracking the data in
2011. Regulatory costs have climbed a whopping 40% since that year.

Stories like these emphasize the importance of bills like the 21st Century
ROAD to Housing Act. Any actions the government can take to make home ownership
easier matter a lot. We do not want our country to become a nation of renters,
beholden to corporate landlords and economically unable to achieve the American
dream. Politicians who prioritize this issue will enjoy tremendous electoral

Oregon Utility Hikes Data Center Electricity Rates


Here is some good news for Americans tired of data centers causing residential
utility bills to soar.

Oregon’s largest electricity supplier has implemented a nearly 30% rate
increase for AI data centers and simultaneously reduced costs for regular
people by just over 1%. The rate hike primarily targets large industries, AI
data centers, and cryptocurrency mining operations. The increased rates apply
to a new higher-rate class created under Oregon’s POWER Act, which imposes
higher costs on developments that consume more than 20 megawatts of power.

This kind of policy is deeply fair. Data centers require massive power
consumption, which has led to unprecedented electricity price increases in
regions where they operate. That means normal citizens who are just trying to
get by have had to pay higher rates even though they did nothing wrong. The

People Do Not Like Getting Bombed


“WE WILL KILL TRUMP”

That is the message that crowds of Iranians displayed on massive banners
during Ali Khamenei’s funeral this week. Additional displays projected similar
phrases such as “Kill Trump,” “Hey Trump, We Will Kill You,” and “There Will Be
Blood.” You can see an examplehere
<[link removed]>. Demonstrators also led
“Death to America” chants.

We are not defending any of that, but Washington’s leaders should consider
what these banners represent before they plunge our country back into war.
Remember earlier this year, when Mark Levin, Dave Rubin, and plenty of others
insisted that the Iranian population wouldthank the United States for invading
their homeland? That they would greet us as liberators and heroes? Those
prophecies have clearly not come true. It turns out people do not gain
satisfaction from having their cities blown up, and they tend to resent whoever
is responsible for the attacks against them. According to theHuman Rights
Activists News Agency, America and Israel have killed over 1,700 civilians in
Iran since Operation Epic Fury began.Of course the country’s citizens are not
grateful for those killings. Anyone who predicted otherwise is now entirely
discredited.

On top of not convincing Iranians to suddenly love the U.S., bombarding Iran
with missiles has gifted terrorists an entire generation’s worth of recruitment
material. Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis will now have very little trouble
radicalizing its next wave of angry young men against our country. We just
slaughtered their friends, family, and leaders. Is anyone surprised that they
yearn to “Kill Trump” in return?

This Iranian reaction to America and Israel’s war is more than just
unsurprising. It was inevitable. Populations rally around their flags when they
come under siege, even if those flags represent governments run by oppressors.
It is human nature, whether neocons acknowledge it or not. People do not like
getting bombed.

What else were Levin and company wrong about? Pretty much everything. They
said Iran would not close the Strait of Hormuz. They insisted that killing the
Ayatollah would spark an uprising. They claimed the war would only take a few
weeks. They swung and missed at every step, but they still think their advice
is worth taking.This time will be different, they now screech. We pray that the
president has the strength to brush them aside.

If he does not, what are the real likely outcomes? Is there any way to
militarily open the strait and keep it open? Even the most drastic possibility,
which is dropping a cluster of nukes on Iran, would not yield such a result.
Pirates would take over the waterway, meaning it might never return to its
pre-war state. Not restarting this conflict remains the clear best option for
the United States. It is time to tell Iran that we will no longer engage in
Israel’s business. This is our path to peace and prosperity.

This Day in History


July 10, 1925: The Scopes Monkey Trial begins. Tennessee high school science
teacher John Thomas Scopes stood trial after being accused of violating state
law by teaching evolution. Just months earlier, Tennessee had made it a
misdemeanor punishable by fine to “teach any theory that denies the story of
the Divine Creation of man as taught in the Bible, and to teach instead that
man has descended from a lower order of animals.” Three-time presidential
candidate and Christian fundamentalist hero William Jennings Bryan volunteered
to assist the prosecution, and the ACLU helped organize the defense. The trial
became such a spectacle that the judge ordered it to be moved outside amid
fears that the large crowd could cause the courthouse floor to collapse. The
jury eventually convicted Scopes after less than 10 minutes of deliberation,
but the judge only ordered him to pay the minimum fine allowed.
