The Republican National Convention concluded tonight with President Donald Trump's speech. His speech showed us what another four years of his presidency would look like. Instead of unifying our country and offering real plans to help our families, Trump used divisive and fear-mongering language to drum up support for his re-election. He is trying to scare America into voting for him, when really they should be scared by the prospect of his re-election.

Over the past four days, President Trump used the White House and the power of the presidency to issue a pardon and naturalize new citizens as political props, grossly misrepresented this administration's disastrous COVID-19 response, and cast wild aspersions on their opponents. It should come as no surprise that the GOP didn't even pass a policy platform -- instead, they just pledged their support to Trump.

This is the most important election of our lifetime, but winning the White House isn't enough. We need to protect our Democratic House majority if we're going to make progress on the issues that matter most to you. But we know we have a tough fight ahead of us, and we can't afford to take anything for granted.

The odds may be stacked against us, but we've beaten them before. Your support helped flip Washington's 8th Congressional District blue for the first time ever in 2018. I know if we continue to work together, we can take on the Republican attacks and keep it blue this year.
