Our nation was founded 250 years ago on a bold assertion: that we are all created equal, and that we have certain unalienable rights.

Over the last decade, however, there have been times when we seem to have been living out our founders’ worst nightmare.

Donald Trump has become an uncontrollable, narcissistic authoritarian who acts like a king — turning our nation’s 250th birthday into a profit-making tribute to himself.

But I still believe America’s best days are ahead.

I recently started writing on Substack [[link removed]] to share longer thoughts and ideas that go beyond what I can fit into a social media post, speech, or TV interview. That’s why I just published a new essay on where America stands at 250 and why I remain optimistic about the future.
