I’d like to start off by saying my thoughts are with those affected by Hurricane Laura. These past few months have thrown unexpected challenges at Americans at every turn, and I pray that those impacted have the support they need at a time like this. 

If you’ve watched any of the RNC this week, you have witnessed an alternate reality where America has nothing to worry about from the global pandemic and economic devastation we here in the real world are seeing. The Republican Party and, in particular, Donald Trump and Mike Pence have shown how profoundly out of touch they are with the experiences of the American people. 
 
At a time when so many are experiencing economic pain as a direct consequence of the Trump-Pence Administration’s failure to confront the coronavirus crisis, the administration has failed to put forward any kind of game plan to move us forward. The lack of leadership has led to enormous economic and physical suffering across the country -- and this November we must put an end to it.

Americans have been crying out for leadership. There is an outpouring of anguish across every part of this country over racial justice. We have a president who refuses to take responsibility for the crises facing our country. 
 
This year is our opportunity to change the course of our politics. We need the compassion, competence, and readiness to deal with the issues we’re facing that Kamala Harris and Joe Biden offer.
 
Together, as a party and a people, we will elect change this November.
