I am not going to lie to you—this is very troubling news. Our voter registration lead has allowed us to win statewide as recently as 2019, when we reelected Democrat John Bel Edwards as governor for a second consecutive term.
And Louisiana has a major U.S. Senate race this November. The Democrat nominee, Jamie Davis, has a real opportunity to pull off a shocking upset and flip LA’s senate seat—a win that would all but guarantee Democrats retake the Senate in November.
Due to the backlash against MAGA and the strength of Jamie’s campaign, legendary Democratic strategist James Carville has said he believes Democrats have a real “fighting chance” to win this race.
But with Republicans taking the voter registration lead, our ability to win statewide is now in serious jeopardy.
That’s why we’re launching an emergency initiative to regain the voter registration lead. Starting this month, our No More Silence - Roll to the Polls Tour will see us visit 14 cities across 7 regions with a goal to register 50,000 new voters, recruit No Party voters, and make sure every voter in Louisiana knows how, when, and where to cast a ballot.
The midterm elections are in just 118 days. That’s not a lot of time and it's going to take some major resources to regain our voter registration lead.
