John,

Yesterday, a gunman opened fire in Odessa, Texas, killing 7 people and injuring at least 18 more. Among the injured was a 17-month-old girl.

In August alone, more than 50 people were murdered in mass shootings in America. The entire time, the Senate was on summer break, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused our demands to return to session.

Enough is enough. Every day that McConnell fails to act, 100 people in America are killed by guns. Sign our petition to tell Mitch McConnell to pass common-sense gun safety legislation now!

Four of the 10 deadliest mass shootings in modern U.S. history have taken place in Texas. And just weeks ago, 22 people were killed in El Paso. This is no coincidence. Texas has some of the weakest gun laws in the entire country. And as of today, they’re only getting weaker.

Today, new Texas gun laws go into effect that will make it easier to carry handguns in churches, schools, apartments, and disaster zones. This is not the way forward. We need to correct our nation’s course before it’s too late.

Gun safety laws save lives. It’s past time to strengthen our nation’s laws to prevent future tragedies. For almost 200 days now, lifesaving legislation has been gathering dust on McConnell’s desk. This cannot go on!

We’re sending a petition straight to Mitch McConnell demanding that he vote on and pass lifesaving gun safety legislation. Can you please add your name?

It’s in our hands.
