As Our Revolution’s National Field Director, nothing makes me happier than to see our groups work hard and elect progressives who will fight corporate power and tangibly improve lives. Our members did just that in Florida by making thousands of phone calls to help Monique Worrell win a tight primary race for Orange-Osceola County State Attorney this month against death penalty proponents and candidates backed by corporate law firms. State’s Attorneys make decisions that impact people for the rest of their lives, which is why we have a moral obligation to fight for progressives who see the full humanity of people of color. We must help Monique win the general election, where she’s up against a corporate-backed opponent who supports private prisons that profit from mass incarceration. Pitch in here to help Our Revolution elect progressive champions like Monique, who will stand up to systemic injustice and create models for the rest of America to follow!

In California, our members went all-out to build a movement to help Jackie Fielder win her State Senate election against an incumbent corporate Democrat who shamefully takes money from the real estate lobby, even though they represent America’s most unaffordable city. Jackie is part of the Native, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ communities, and led a successful ballot measure in 2018 to stop a proposal to increase police funding and give them more latitude to use force. By electing real organizers like Jackie, we are building a bench of progressive champions locally who can innovate policies that go on to become national models. That’s exactly what our members did when they knocked on doors (before COVID-19) and made phone calls to elect Chesa Boudin District Attorney in San Francisco. Chesa is closing one of the nation’s most notorious jails and has created a model Economic Crimes Unit to go after corporate wage thieves and other white-collar criminals. Chesa can stand up to corporations that buy politicians regularly because he doesn’t owe his win to big money, but instead to Our Revolution and the progressive movement. That’s how we build power. Chip in here to help us get our incredible members the resources they need to beat the establishment in local races all over America! In New York, our members helped Jessica Ramos win despite going up against a special interest backed opponent. Now, she’s in the State Senate fighting the worst of Andrew Cuomo’s corporate-friendly “centrist” policies and pushing legislation to extend legal protections to “gig workers” deprived of their labor rights. And in the deep South, Zulfat Suara — who we helped elect to the Nashville City Council - joined together with other progressives to end the city’s contract with CoreCivic — the 2nd largest private prison company in the nation. Now, because of the hard work of Our Revolution members, this evil private prison company is pulling out of Nashville! Help us continue to elect game-changing local progressives up and down the ballot this November! Onward, Mike Oles National Field Director Our Revolution
