A year and a half after the historic fires in Southern California, wildfires are becoming more frequent and more devastating. This is no longer a seasonal, summertime issue – it has a year-round impact that requires preparation and federal support.

Before Congress, I co-founded an organization to stop the wildfire crisis. It continues to be a cornerstone of my work in Washington.

Wildfires affect our communities, our economy, and our national security. I'm leading the charge in Congress to strengthen prevention, innovation, and education.

It's why I'm introducing new legislation, the bipartisan Wildfire Response Modernization Act, to strengthen the wildfire monitoring program we rely on – earlier detection, faster evacuations, and safer conditions for firefighters.
