Content Warning: this email discusses police brutality
On Sunday, Jacob Blake was shot seven times in the back, in front of his children, by a police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He is fighting for his life.
This is yet another example of a policing system that perpetuates violence, and threatens the lives of Black and Brown folx across the country.
Then last night, a 17-year-old white supremacist domestic terrorist drove across state lines, armed with an AR-15. He shot and killed two people who had assembled to express outrage over Jacob’s shooting and affirm the value, dignity, and worth of Black lives.
The Kenosha, Wisconsin community is in pain in the face of blatant racism and injustice, and protestors need our support. Being a part of the progressive movement means showing up.
Racism in our country is a systemic issue and it’s up to each and every one of us to dismantle it. Right now, that means showing solidarity and supporting the protestors in Wisconsin who are fighting for accountability and justice.
People who are protesting to say that Black Lives Matter should not be imprisoned or held because they can’t pay cash bail. If you can afford it, please make a contribution right now to help set free our brothers, sisters, and siblings who are making their voices heard in Kenosha.
Thank you for your solidarity,
The A-Team
