Lizzie Pannill Fletcher for CongressHey there -- this has been a busy week. We have been focused on Hurricane Laura in the Gulf, grateful that our community was spared and thinking of our neighbors in Texas and Louisiana who have received the hurricane's devastating impact.
Lizzie knows how important it is for communities to come together after disasters to recover -- and to come together before them to prepare. That's a critical part of her work in Congress, where she has brought legislation to streamline disaster recovery and is the Vice Chair of a subcommittee that oversees FEMA.
We had planned this week to commemorate the third anniversary of Hurricane Harvey by sharing its lessons in our community--namely, how much we can accomplish when we work together. And those lessons are just as important today:
We paused our Working Together Week of Action in anticipation of Hurricane Laura, but we are ready to hit the play button again tomorrow! Volunteers can meet or reconnect with our staff, and we'll talk about our path to re-electing Lizzie this November. We'll also train volunteers on how to use our new system for phonebanking -- a crucial way to get out the vote now that so much of campaigning has moved online.
